Kangaroo Island has so much to offer that I think the only way to share it is in lists:
Beach highlights:
The soft, white sand (as white as Hyams I’m sure!)
Driving in the wide empty beach, the kids racing their dad’s driving
Swimming with dolphins (ok this was the no.1 highlight!)
The crystal clear water still mild in autumn
Animals seen:
Penguins 1
Eagles 1
Sting rays 2
Dolphins 4
Possums 5
Kangaroos 8
Koalas 17
Wallabies lots
Seals and seal lions too many to count
Fish hundreds
Termite mounds
Sand flies - Ed is delicious!
Tourist sites:
Remarkable Rocks
Admirals Arch
Lighthouses
Food highlights:
Well I have no porn for you because we were mostly too greedy to pause and take pictures.
Errors:
We shouldn’t have listened to the ferry booking lady who told us all the campsites were rubbish and to book something. There are heaps of beautiful sites, some with decent amenities too. Ours did the job but that’s all.
We should have planned our days and food stops better to maximise our best food options. Though excellent food is available the island is big and good options sparse in some areas.
Fart arsing around with the car’s dodgy fuel tank. An annoying issue that has been dogging is throughout our travels. Back to the mechanic in Adelaide!
This is a special place with stunningly beautiful scenery. If you ever get a chance to visit you should!
Oh the seals!!! Big hellos from us nutbags. Loving the news. Xx
